ALC Building Blocks exists to help people in our community when their home or housing situation becomes a burden they simply can’t handle on their own.

We provide essential home repairs and accessibility improvements for families and individuals who genuinely need help, including elderly people on fixed incomes, veterans, individuals with disabilities, single-parent families, and families going through financial hardship.

Through our Housing Hope program, we also help individuals and families facing homelessness or housing instability work toward safe, stable housing and greater independence. When disaster strikes, we want to be there too—helping families recover, rebuild, and get back on their feet.

ALC Building Blocks grew out of something I saw over and over again through years of working in the construction industry.

I would meet good people who had a real problem with their home—a leaking roof, failed HVAC system, broken water heater, accessibility need, or another essential repair—but simply didn't have the money to fix it.

Sometimes people don't need a handout. They just need a helping hand.

I've always believed that if you see a need and have the ability to help, you should do what you can. Building Blocks was created so we could take that idea beyond what one person or one company could do and bring businesses, churches, volunteers, donors, and our community together to help more people.

Our work focuses on needs that make a real difference in someone's ability to safely and comfortably live in their home. That can include roof repairs and replacements, HVAC, plumbing, water heaters, accessibility improvements such as wheelchair ramps, safety-related repairs, and other essential construction needs.

Through Housing Hope, we work with people experiencing housing instability or homelessness and help connect them with the support and resources needed to move toward stable housing and independence.

Our Disaster Relief efforts allow us to respond when storms and other disasters leave families facing unexpected damage and hardship.

Every situation is different, so our goal isn't to fit everyone into the same box. It's to look at the need in front of us and determine how we can best help.

ALC Building Blocks is a faith-based nonprofit, and our faith is a big part of why we do this.

We believe God gives each of us different abilities, resources, and opportunities, and we're supposed to use them to serve others. For us, construction happens to be one of those abilities.

We're not serving people because they're Christians. We're serving them because we are Christians.

There are no strings attached to the help we provide. Our hope is simply that through meeting real needs and loving people well, we can give families a little hope during a difficult season and show them the love of Jesus through our actions.

We know we can't help everybody. But we can help somebody.

If we can repair a roof for an elderly homeowner, build a wheelchair ramp for someone who can no longer safely get into their home, help a family find stable housing, or help someone begin rebuilding after a disaster, then we've made a difference.

And if we help one family who wouldn't have gotten help otherwise, then we've done something good.

That's what ALC Building Blocks is about: seeing a need, filling a need, and bringing our community together to build hope and change lives.
